Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka said on October 11 that he has followed an «evolutionary path» in his economic policies in order to spare hardships for the Belarusian people.
«I am ready for any changes and reforms, including revolutionary ones, although this is not my principle. I am ready to do what you want. Nobody will reproach me that I have acted these years contrary to the opinion of the people,» he told journalists at polling station number 1 in Minsk where he cast his vote in the presidential polls. And he added:
«If you give me carte blanche for some breakthrough or revolutionary transformation, if you really want it — we will do it. The problem is not me — the problem is society.»
