«Even if the entire world comes out against Lukashenka today — he will become president against all odds if he so chooses,» Belarusian president Alyaksandr Lukashenka said today in Moscow following a Eurasian Economic Union summit.

Lukashenka was reportedly addressing recent speculations about his reelection chances in a presidential poll in Belarus in late 2015.

Some journalists and political analysts argue that Lukashenka has been in disfavor with the Kremlin because of his criticism of Moscow’s policy regarding Ukraine, and Russia’s recent trade war with Belarus.

Last week Lukashenka called Russia’s ban on Belarusian milk and meat exports «stupid and brainless.»
